A COMPARISON BY BACKLINK MANAGEMENT
Monitor Backlinks Alternatives: Choose the Right SEO Workflow
Choose Linkody if your priority is dedicated backlink checks and email reports. Consider Backlink Management if you want earned-link records alongside Search Console data and broader SEO work—not a like-for-like replacement for automatic monitoring.
Monitor Backlinks has not simply disappeared. SEOptimer says it acquired the product in 2023 and that the legacy service remains functional. Staying with it is a valid option.
Disclosure: We publish Backlink Management. This is our comparison, not an independent ranking or a hands-on benchmark of all three products.
The Short Answer
Keep Monitor Backlinks / consider SEOptimer: your priority is new-and-lost-link monitoring and continuity. Check which current or legacy plan meets your needs.
Consider Linkody: you want existing links checked every 24 hours, email reports and backlink exports.
Consider Backlink Management: you want to work with earned-link records, connected Google Search Console metrics and the SEO Assistant in one workspace. Confirm your account's access before choosing a plan.

What Happened to Monitor Backlinks?
SEOptimer's current product page says it acquired Monitor Backlinks in 2023 and incorporated its core features. It also says the legacy Monitor Backlinks service remains usable and functional.
That does not mean every old plan is identical to a current SEOptimer plan. Confirm your domain limits, export options and billing with the service you will actually use. We are not describing a forced migration or a shutdown.

Compare the Jobs, Not Just the Names
The competitor entries below reflect vendor documentation, not our own performance tests. “Not verified” means we did not establish that capability in this review; it does not prove the feature is absent.
| Your Requirement | Monitor Backlinks / SEOptimer | Linkody | Backlink Management |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recurring monitoring and alerts | SEOptimer documents new/lost-link views and weekly or monthly email summaries. Confirm legacy-account terms separately. | Existing-link status checks every 24 hours; email reports daily or weekly. | A recorded link status is visible. Recurring rechecks and automatic lost-link alerts were not verified. |
| Link data and exports | Current SEOptimer page documents new/lost data exported to CSV, Excel or PDF. | Tags, notes, CSV import and CSV/white-label PDF export are documented. Trial excludes CSV/PDF export. | Earned-link table shows source website, linking URL, traffic, DR, date added and status. CSV import/export was not verified. |
| Search and content workflow | Choose the relevant current SEOptimer plan; this is not a full audit of its SEO suite. | This review focuses on its documented backlink workflow, not every integration. | Connected GSC dashboard shows impressions, clicks, CTR and average position. Content Planner and Content History are part of the workspace. |
| SEO assistance | Not assessed in this comparison. | Not assessed in this comparison. | SEO Assistant preview includes prompt starters for an SEO plan, internal links and keywords close to page one. |
| What to confirm before paying | Current versus legacy plan, sites monitored, export needs and notification cadence. | Domain/link quotas, billing period and whether exports are required during a trial. | Feature access, connected data requirements and any capability you need beyond the observed workflow. |

Staying With Monitor Backlinks Is an Option
Start here if your main job is knowing when links appear or disappear. SEOptimer documents a backlink-change dashboard, tables of gained and lost links, regular email summaries and downloadable change data.
Its page describes a view reaching back up to a year. That is a product claim, not a guarantee that a new account will contain a year of your own history.
Before switching, check whether your existing Monitor Backlinks setup already covers the reporting and alerts you need. A broader workspace is not automatically a better monitoring tool.
Linkody: A Dedicated Monitoring Alternative
Linkody is the clearer comparison if you need scheduled checks of existing links. Its pricing FAQ says it updates link status every 24 hours and lets you receive daily or weekly email reports.
Linkody’s CSV import documentation includes tags, notes and expected link attributes. It also offers status-change email alerts for imported links.
Watch the trial boundary: Linkody advertises a 30-day trial, but CSV/PDF exports are excluded during that trial. If client deliverables matter, test the workflow under the terms you will actually buy.
Check Linkody's plan limits and trial terms. Prices and quotas can change; this comparison does not quote a checkout price.
Backlink Management: A Connected SEO Workflow
BM is worth considering when your problem extends beyond link-change notifications. The workspace brings earned-link information, connected Search Console metrics, content work and an SEO Assistant into the same product.
In our 9 October interface inspection, the Earned Backlinks table displayed source website, linking URL, traffic, DR, date added and status. The SEO dashboard displayed impressions, clicks, CTR and average position from a connected property.
Those fields help you read link records alongside search performance. They do not establish that a particular backlink caused a ranking change, and a status column is not evidence of a recurring monitoring schedule.
The SEO Assistant, in Context
The SEO Assistant is labelled Preview. Its interface offers starters including “Build my SEO plan”, “Link my latest articles” and “Keywords close to page one”, alongside site-data connection controls.
These are observed interface options, not a benchmark of answer quality or a promise that the assistant will carry out every requested change. Connected data, account access and usage limits matter.
KEEP THE CONTEXT TOGETHER
Explore a Different Way to Organise SEO Work
If connected link records, search data and content work match your needs, create a BM account to explore the next steps. Confirm available features and plan terms before paying.
Create Your BM AccountFor multi-client decisions, our agency backlink-management guide explains the questions to ask about project limits and client reporting. If your immediate job is reviewing a link profile rather than changing software, start with the separate backlink audit workflow.
When BM Is Not the Right Fit
Do not switch on the assumption that BM replaces these features:
- Automatic lost-link alerts: not verified in this review.
- A daily recheck schedule for imported links: not verified.
- White-label client reports or bulk CSV migration: not verified.
- A preserved Monitor Backlinks history: no automatic migration was verified.
If any item is essential, keep your current tool until the replacement has demonstrated it with a small, representative sample. A broader SEO workflow is useful only if it solves the job you actually have.
A Practical Switching Checklist
- List your must-haves: check frequency, attribute-change alerts, exports, history and the number of client sites.
- Save an export from your current tool where your plan allows it. Check its columns before assuming another service can import it.
- Evaluate a small sample without cancelling the old service. Confirm the checks and reports yourself.
- Review the actual plan terms. A create-account button is not evidence that every feature is included for free.
- Choose the workflow that fits. Keeping dedicated monitoring alongside a broader workspace may make more sense than replacing it.
Questions Before You Choose
Is Monitor Backlinks Discontinued?
SEOptimer's page says the legacy Monitor Backlinks service remains functional after its 2023 acquisition. We read that statement on 9 October 2026; check the current service notice before making an account decision.
Is BM a Like-for-Like Monitor Backlinks Replacement?
Not on the evidence established here. BM demonstrates a connected SEO workspace, but we did not verify recurring link rechecks, automatic lost-link alerts or white-label reporting. Choose based on your required workflow.
Can I Import My Monitor Backlinks History Into BM?
We did not verify a direct importer or preservation of monitoring history. Do not cancel your existing service based on an assumed migration path.
What Does Creating a BM Account Give Me?
The signup page provides a Create Your Account form. We did not complete a new registration or verify what features a newly registered account can access. Check feature availability, plan requirements and usage limits before paying. This comparison does not promise a permanently free plan.
Are These Independent Ratings?
No. Backlink Management publishes this page and is one of the options discussed. We have not assigned numerical ratings, measured monitoring accuracy or conducted a head-to-head customer trial.
Sources and Review Method
Research date: 9 October 2026. We read current first-party product pages and inspected an existing BM account without changing its data. We did not open new paid competitor accounts, run a migration or benchmark alert delivery.
Public review sites and community discussions were also checked. The evidence was sparse or historical and did not establish a current head-to-head comparison with BM, so no community rating is used here.
